Matthew is a Licensed Masters Social Worker who has been providing psychotherapy for over a decade in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. He received his Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Michigan and completed a post-MSW Fellowship at Michigan Medicine.

Matthew has a deep understanding of the human condition and the dynamic challenges present in the world. He has an innate ability to sit with people at varying stages as they process through complex life challenges. Matthew helps clients to confront deeply engrained thoughts and feelings and tailors his therapeutic approach to significantly reduce the distress they are experiencing. Matthew utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness with clients. He also enjoys integrating his creativity and humor (when appropriate) to connect with clients.

Matthew has been successful in providing therapy to clients across the life span and who are experiencing trauma, loss, family and relationship conflict, parenting issues, LGBTQIA identities, and existential crises. Matthew is trained in addressing disordered gambling and behavioral addictions, depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, suicidal ideation, phobias, and thought disorders. With prior experience at Michigan Medicine and completing a Certificate Program in Primary Care Behavioral Health at University of Massachusetts, Matthew has expertise in counseling clients with physical health issues. Matthew enjoys working with diverse clients and has worked in numerous communities and with clients from various race, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
