Maria Mulhauser, LMFT is passionate about helping couples, families, and individuals find relief from emotional distress and be able to live their lives to the fullest. Her strengths-based approach allows clients to harness the tools and strategies they already possess, while working collaboratively to help them find a new way forward. She has specialized training in Imago Relationship Therapy, which is a couples therapy approach that facilitates connection between partners in order to find lasting healing within a relationship. She also uses a variety of other treatment modalities, including cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and psychodynamic strategies.
Maria has experience working with a diverse population to address a wide variety of presenting problems, including depression, anxiety, attachment issues, grief, trauma, relationship issues, and more. She has previously practiced therapy both in private practice and in a foster care agency setting.
Maria strives to cultivate a safe, confidential, and nonjudgmental environment in which clients can feel heard and understood. She is an LBGTQ+ affirming therapist. Maria is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Michigan and received her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Calvin College.
