Katie Birk (she/her) is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and young adults, alongside their families. Katie’s clinical style is collaborative, educational and empathic. She actively cultivates a strong therapeutic alliance with children and families to foster insight and craft treatment plans tailored to individual strengths and needs.

Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are some of the modalites Katie draws upon. She utilizes a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach with her clients. Katie incorporates bibliotherapy, play, and various artistic and creative activities to engage clients and help them build confidence while expanding emotional vocabulary and communication skills. Katie has experience treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, and Adjustment Disorder in children and adolescents. Katie has particular interest in supporting LGBTQ+ youth, neurodivergent youth, marginalized communities, and in creating a safe and inclusive space for all.

Katie earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ohio University Patton College of Education. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Ohio University as well. Katie has counseling experience in school-based mental health and in working with diverse populations. She relies on a community-driven approach to facilitate growth by developing and strengthening clients’ relationships within their circles of support to create lasting change.
