IQ Testing & Giftedness Testing for Children
We Believe
Identifying a gifted child can provide them with abundant opportunities to thrive.
Have you ever wondered if your child is gifted? The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) estimates there are approximately 3 million academically gifted children in the U.S., representing around 6% of the student population. However, there are clear distinctions between a bright child and a gifted learner. Identifying a gifted student can provide them with the opportunities they need to foster a love for learning while simultaneously challenging their abilities.

Why Giftedness Testing?
Typically the needs of a gifted child cannot be met within a regular classroom. In traditional academic settings, gifted children often feel bored, under-stimulated, and unchallenged. When this happens, particularly with younger children, they may begin to act out or simply stop completing the work presented to them. However, when their skills are recognized, these exceptional students can be developed by educators who are trained to understand the unique needs of gifted children.
At Cypress, we work with children from all backgrounds and walks of life to help them live a life where happiness and fulfillment are the focus. We administer Giftedness and IQ Testing assessments based on the specific needs of your child to ensure you receive accurate results that best reflect your child and their academic ability. For example, in some cases, an Intelligence Test (IQ Test) is used to categorize intellectual ability. In other cases, we’ll use testing that focuses on specific academic strengths, such as reading or math, to identify exceptional aptitude in a specific area of learning.
How Does It Work?
- We’ll discuss your child’s history in detail to understand and determine the ideal assessment for their needs.
- While testing can range from one to several hours (depending on the test administered), most testing is completed within a single visit.
- A Cypress psychologist will score and interpret your child’s test results, and they’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to meet with you to discuss the test results.
- During your follow-up appointment, the psychologist will provide you with a customized report, discuss your child’s test results, and make recommendations for you and your child moving forward.
