ADHD Testing for Children and Teens
We Believe
With the right tools and resources, every child can thrive.
It’s perfectly natural and even expected, for children and teens to test boundaries, act impulsively, and sometimes struggle to stay on task. However, when these behaviors are excessive or chronic in nature, your child may be struggling with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), also called Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).
ADHD is a common childhood disorder characterized by impulsivity, hyperactivity, and inattentiveness. When left untreated, ADHD can negatively impact your child's academics, school, and home life, as well as their relationships. If you believe your child is struggling with ADHD, you do not have to face this challenging time alone - we’re here to help. ADHD/ADD testing is the first step on the path to providing your child with the tools they need to face life’s challenges.

How do You Test for ADHD/ADD?
ADHD testing helps to determine whether an individual has ADHD. While there is no single test to diagnose ADHD, our psychologists conduct a comprehensive evaluation to determine if your child has ADHD. This evaluation is also designed to rule out or identify other underlying conditions, such as learning disabilities, autism, auditory processing disorders, or mood disorders. Our ADHD testing includes a range of methods, such as face-to-face evaluation, questionnaires, hands-on or computer testing, and questionnaires for teachers or caregivers (when applicable). We choose the tools depending on the symptoms to best measure attention, concentration, behavioral problems, impulsiveness, and organizational ability.
What Happens if My Child Has ADHD?
We understand that having a child with ADHD can feel scary and overwhelming. However, a diagnosis of ADHD is not the end of the world. On the contrary, it’s the first step towards providing your child with the tools and solutions they need to thrive in life. At Cypress, we work with children from all backgrounds and walks of life to help them live a life where happiness, self-control, and fulfillment are the focus – and not their ADHD.
We administer customized ADHD assessments to ensure you receive accurate results that best reflect your child’s specific needs. Additionally, our compassionate therapists provide individuals and families with the necessary tools and support they need to identify, manage, and mitigate any barriers associated with an ADHD/ADD diagnosis.
In most cases, ADHD/ADD is a medical diagnosis covered by health insurance. If your policy includes Psychological Testing, you may be able to apply those benefits to these services. If you are unsure whether or not your policy covers your child’s ADHD assessment, we’d be happy to check for you.
