Our Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Equality

We Believe

Diversity is a fact and inclusion is an act.

At Cypress Counseling Center, we value compassion, authenticity, acceptance, and the healing power of connection and community. The Black community’s racial injustices are just one example of how far we need to go to make these principles a reality for everyone. The effects of minority stress and racial trauma are severe and deserve compassionate care and healing. We’re committed to providing our clients with inclusive services and programs to help them heal.

The Cypress family comprises diverse experiences specific to various identities, including race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliations, social class, nationality, and ability status. We acknowledge how our field has underserved the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, and we’re committed to helping change that. We’re dedicated to creating an inclusive space of awareness, appreciation, and respect for all forms of diversity. We’re also committed to fostering and nurturing cultural competence and providing culturally sensitive services to our community.

To enhance our knowledge, understanding, and service offerings, our therapists consistently participate in education, training programs, and ongoing research in diversity. However, we are aware that our organization has many opportunities to learn and enrich our social and cultural experiences and knowledge. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is an evolving and open-ended journey.

We look forward to the opportunity to grow and develop as we provide our clients with the resources they need to heal and experience growth.

“Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.”
- Mahatma Gandhi
